Lifestyle creator @jemaialzonia does this four-step routine every single night right after her shower, and her feet show every bit of it. Here is exactly how she does it.

Sandal season has a way of making you suddenly very aware of the state of your feet.

One day you are fine, the next you are staring at your heels and wondering how things got to this point.

The good news is that soft, smooth feet are a matter of routine.

And lifestyle creator @jemaialzonia has one of the most straightforward, no-nonsense nightly foot care routines we have seen.

Four steps, done every single night right after her shower, and her feet look exactly the way you want yours to look heading into sandal season.

Hey girls, since it is sandal season and we all want smooth and soft feet, let me walk you through my nightly foot care routine,” she opens.

What follows is a layered, deliberate approach to foot moisture that treats your feet with the same level of care as the rest of your body, which, as she rightly points out, is exactly how it should be.

I like to keep my full body on the same level of moisturisation and texture — just to keep the base of all of my routines even.”

The 4-Step Nightly Routine

Exfoliation · Daily

01. Pumice Stone — Remove Dead Skin Before It Builds Up

Her routine starts with a pumice stone, and the logic here is simple but important.

The first thing I’m using is a pumice stone just to make sure that I’m constantly getting all of the dead skin and harsh layer off of the surface of my feet before it builds up too much,” she explains.

The keyword there is constantly.

Most people reach for a pumice stone only when things have already gotten bad, but by doing it every night as a maintenance step, she prevents the buildup from ever getting to a point where it needs serious work.

Think of it as daily upkeep rather than a weekly repair job.

Gentle circular motions on the heel and ball of the foot, every night, is all it takes to keep things consistently smooth.

Moisture Base · Body Butter

02. Dampen First, Then Body Butter — Keep Everything Uniform

Here is the step most people skip entirely, and it makes all the difference.

Before applying any moisturiser, she dampens her feet with a water mist bottle.

Sound familiar? It should. It is the same damp-skin principle that makes body oil so effective.

Moisture applied to slightly damp skin absorbs faster and more deeply than moisture applied to dry skin.

Then she reaches for whichever body butter she is using on the rest of her body that day.

I do this just to keep everything at uniform. I like to keep my full body on the same level of moisturisation and texture — just to keep the base of all of my routines even.”

It is a small but elegant philosophy: your feet are part of your body, so they get the same treatment as the rest of it.

Intense Repair · Aquaphor

03. Aquaphor — Targeted Treatment for the Harsh Areas

After the body butter comes Aquaphor, and this is where the routine gets serious about the areas that need it most.

This is for the harsher areas of my feet just to add another layer of moisture and avoid any harsh or cracked surfaces,” she says.

Aquaphor is a petrolatum-based healing ointment that creates a thick, occlusive barrier on the skin, meaning it does not just moisturise, it physically locks everything in and prevents any further moisture loss.

Applied on top of body butter, it seals in the hydration that is already there and adds an extra layer of intense repair specifically to the heels and any dry patches.

It is the heavy-duty step in an otherwise gentle routine, and it is doing the hardest work.

Seal & Shine · Oil Mist

04. Oil Mist + Socks to Lock Everything In and Add That Glow

The final step is an oil mist, applied the same way she uses it on the rest of her body: as a seal over everything underneath.

This is not only going to lock the hydration and moisture in place, but also give my feet a nice shine and a little bit of a fragrance,” she explains.

Once the routine is done, she does one final thing that takes the results from good to genuinely great.

In the past I would just use slippers, but in the summer and spring my feet are more exposed, so I want to really lock in all forms of moisture and products as much as possible. So in these seasons, I do wear socks just for a little bit while the products soak in.

Pulling on a pair of clean cotton socks for 20 to 30 minutes while the products absorb create a gentle occlusive layer that drives everything deeper into the skin.

Particularly important in warmer months when your feet are bare and exposed all day.

You will feel the difference by morning.

Four steps. Every single night. Right after your shower.
That is the whole secret to feet soft enough for sandal season.
